Strategic understanding between ZEISS and QMS for diabetic retinopathy screening

QMS Medical Allied Services Ltd. today announced its strategic agreement with ZEISS Medical Technology India – for the screening of diabetic retinopathy. ZEISS is an internationally leading technology company operating in the optics and optoelectronics industries.

QMS Medical Allied Services (QMS-MAS) is a leading provider of knowledge-driven science solutions and promotional avenues for leading pharmaceutical manufacturers in India. With this agreement, QMS-MAS enters the field of running medical camps across sites in India.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the leading cause of preventable vision loss in a third of adults over 40 with diabetes, according to a CDC survey. Diabetic retinopathy occurs when the blood vessels in the retina, at the back of the eye, change, it slowly affects a patient’s eyesight without any visible symptoms or changes in vision in the early stages. But as it progresses, it usually causes vision loss, which in many cases cannot be reversed.

Remote screening for diabetic retinopathy can help with early detection, even before there are noticeable changes in vision.

QMS-MAS will perform remote screening for diabetic retinopathy in India using the ZEISS VISUSCOUT®100 camera. “We are extremely happy to launch this unique and one-of-a-kind initiative where, in addition to remote DR screening, we will be offering various other preventive medical camps.
