Pawable has launched the “first” collagen supplement for dogs, intended to prevent joint, skin and digestive problems, PetBusiness world reports.
Collar-Gen is a powdered supplement, and should be given in the puppy’s food once a day. It contains five types of 100% natural hydrolyzed collagen for a range of benefits.
Pawable soft-launched the supplement, SoBodyCo’s sister product, a collagen supplement for humans, over the summer. But now they are rolling it out more widely.
Various health and body benefits
Dale Nash, director of product development at passoversaid: “As a protein, collagen builds cells and keeps them happy and healthy by expressing the correct genetic codes. Mobility is key, and adding this supplement helps prevent osteoarthritis and other types of inflammation that so frequently affect dogs.
“This product prevents dogs from developing arthritis, but also helps relieve and soothe existing conditions.
“Collagen really is the protein that holds it all together,” he continued, describing it as a “miracle product.”
Among Pawable’s fans is Anna Webb, a dog expert and host of the “A Dog’s Life” podcast. She gives the supplement to her dogs Prudence and to Mr. Binks herself.
“It’s the most abundant protein for us and it’s the same for dogs,” she said. “Over time, we all lose that, but we can rebuild by taking supplements.”
