ICAR National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bengaluru has today marketed Anti-Methanogenic Feed Supplement “Harit Dhara” to BAIF Development Research Foundation, Pune on a non-exclusive basis through AgrInnovate India.
Dr Raghavendra Bhatta, Inventor and Director, ICAR-NIANP, Bengaluru and Shri. Bharat Kakade, President of the BAIF Development Research Foundation, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoA) on behalf of their respective organizations for the licensing and commercial manufacture of the anti-methanogen dietary supplement.
Dr. Bhatta said the product has been developed through systematic and extensive research over more than a decade and the supplement is highly effective in mitigating daily enteric methane emissions from ruminants by around 20%. Dr Bhatta said the supplement has already been marketed from Sai Deep Exports Pvt Ltd., Bengaluru and Core CarbonX Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad and this is the third release of the supplement.
Dr. Praveen Malik, CEO, AgrInnovate India, New Delhi, was also present during the signing of the MoU. On occasion, Dr. Malik said that as Livestock Commissioner, Government. of India, it has issued a notice to all state animal husbandry departments for the adoption of “Harit Dhara Technology”.
Sri. Bharat Kakade, President, BAIF Development Research Foundation, Pune, informed that BAIF plans to adopt Harit Dhara technology in 10 states of India to effectively mitigate daily enteric methane emissions, thereby improving livestock productivity. He also said that BAIF will come up with an effective plan to claim the carbon credit earned through this technology.
The co-inventors of the technology, Dr. PK Malik and Dr. AP Kolte, along with other senior NIANP officials and Dr. MJ Aware, Senior Nutritionist, BAIF were also present during the signing of the MoU at the ‘ICAR- NIANP.
