At its Label Congress booth, FLEXcon showcased its latest innovations in pharmaceutical labeling and sustainability. L&NW spoke to Melissa David, Product Manager at FLEXcon, about the great interest the company is seeing in these new materials.

PHARMcal’s line of tracking and tracing solutions includes technical films with improved printability, robust adhesion and optimized coatings for vials, syringes and ampoules, over-the-counter drugs, concealed applications, cryogenic labeling , evidence of tampering and labeling of blood bags. The range reduces complexity with a simplified product offering organized by end-use application, making it easier for customers and specifiers to select the right products for their intended use, explains David.

Meanwhile, FLEXcon recently announced the expansion of its FLEXcon optiFLEX ecoFOCUS line, designed with sustainability in mind, to include conformable polyethylene labeling solutions that enable recyclability of HDPE containers. These white and clear products use FLEXcon’s V-127RE adhesive to ensure excellent performance and maximize the recyclability of HDPE containers. In addition, the 1.2 mil TRACrite polyester liner contains up to 60% post-industrial content, further minimizing the carbon footprint.

Applications include food and beverage, health and beauty, and household chemical labeling.

“Using PE film on an HDPE container means you combine like polymers – an advantage over using BOPP films on HDPE containers,” notes David. “This further facilitates the recyclability of containers, helping CPG brands and businesses meet their sustainability goals. “
