On behalf of Bracco, BDP arranged the transport of two forty-foot refrigerated reefer containers via the Trans-Asian Railway from Italy to China, marking the maiden voyage of this unique temperature-controlled method of transport.
Bracco places the concept of sustainability at the heart of its operations and therefore seeks to reduce environmental impacts, particularly within its supply chain. To accelerate its sustainability initiatives, Bracco approached BDP about the feasibility of designing a transportation solution that would move freight entirely overland to reduce carbon emissions. BDP implemented a solution that combined sustainable routing with innovative new technologies using in-container IoT sensors to measure temperature, humidity and light levels, product movement traceability, as well as updates. real-time quality updates to ensure flawless product integrity during transport.
Thanks to the success of the project, Bracco saw a 40% reduction in carbon emissions using rail transport compared to maritime transport, cementing an important foundation to continue its commitment as an industry leader in sustainable operations.
